A vocal duet describing a transcendent, moment-of-death experience with acoustic and electric guitars written by a hospice music therapist.
NOTES
The song “A Beautiful Death” shares the experience of a hospice music therapist working with dying patients at the moment of death. While many patients are unable to speak due to their illness, some will share important thoughts, feelings and life messages with loved ones who are present. A music therapist provides a comforting presence and can create a relaxing, musical environment in the room by sharing favorite songs of the patient and family. In this way, music therapy can bring a sense of comfort at a time where family members are overwhelmed with emotion. Special songs can encourage communication, express sentiments and offer patients and their loved ones ways of saying goodbye.

“A Beautiful Death,” describes how communications from loved ones who are imminently dying can carry powerful, life affirming messages for family members and those present. The song imparts a sense of joy and spirituality through the painful loss of a loved one.
