Words and Music by Tom Dalton
This humorous, tongue and cheek blues describes how one person handled severe damage to their home by renovating and over preparing for the next hurricane.
Category 5

Last two years, the hurricanes blowin’ through
Did so much damage, I didn’t know what to do
Winds wreckin’ my walls, water pourin’ in
Tore my garage down, caved my roof in

I had the hurricane blues – We were lucky to survive. But now I’m ready for the big one – bring on the Category 5

This year I am prepared – I’ll be hunkered down in luxury
I’ll sit in my recliner watch movies on DVD
I learned my lesson well – the renovations took a year
Now my house is ready – for the season to be here

Now I got impact glass and steel shutters to boot
Brand new generator, runs my whole house too
Got gourmet food for a month, my bottled water’s Perrier
Ice cream, cake and chocolate, beer, wine and champaign

Now I don’t like to brag and I don’t like to boast
I wouldn’t be so cocky if I lived right on the coast
My neighborhood don’t flood and my house is sealed tight
I wish that I had been prepared in 2004 and 05
